I presently teach the following three courses:
History of Life (ISB 200) --- Designed for non-science-majors; the course covers the origin of life, the fossil record of life on Earth, the historical development of evolutionary thought, and the genetic basis of evolution. I teach ISB 200 in periodic rotation with several other faculty.
Vertebrate Paleontology (GLG/ZOL 433) --- Intended for upper-level undergrads, and grad students; the class deals in detail with the origin, evolution, and interrelationships of the major groups of vertebrates, with an emphasis on the evolution of major morphological innovations. The class includes a lab that makes extensive use of specimens from the MSU Museum collection. GLG/ZOL 433 is offered in the fall of even-numbered years.
Paleobiology Seminar (GLG 804) --- This is a grad-student-level seminar that meets every semester; the emphasis is on discussion of recent published papers and books dealing with major issues in paleontology and evolutionary biology.
