A mpingo chokani

This ugly brute is called, “You from the church, go away”. He reflects tension between traditional villagers and the Christian Church. In this case, a priest delays his visit to the bedside of a dying man, and the man dies before the priest arrives to give the last rites. The people know the priest delayed his efforts and now scorn him. The message is directed in part to church leaders – to show compassion or they can lose their flock.
