Chiwau

“The disfigured one” is a sad story of pride and witchcraft. Chiwau is an arrogant medicine man who contracts the slimming disease called mdulo from his promiscuous activities. Unable to cure himself, he consults other medicine men for a remedy, but they – angered by his arrogance and improper behavior - treat him with a burning potion, which turns one side of his face back. Mdulo is a disease seen to be acquired through breaking sexual taboos.
