Mandevu reveals the dangers of money and promiscuity. He left the village to make his fortune, returning to buy a maize mill. He has cash in his pockets, and tempts women with his wealth. He seduces unmarried girls and married women, and then leaves them disgraced and pregnant. Like many ‘red’ characters, he is a danger to the community.
