This quilt belonged to Elfrida Petersen Evely Leete who was born in 1908 in Stearns, Kentucky. Shortly after she moved to Somerset, Kentucky. Her father Olief Gottlileb Petersen worked as a surveyor for the railway. Her mother was Estelle Brinkley, born 1884 inStearns. Elfrida had three aunts and one uncle. Aunt Delia, Aunt Susan, Aunt Jane and Uncle Frank (Franklin) Brinkley all lived in Stearns. Elfrida’s aunts Susan and Jane owned a millinery shop in Stearns.

Elfrida’s daughter, Susan Pltkin, doesn’t remember ever seeing her great aunt’s sewing quilts. Susan owns one of her mother’s quilts, a blue and white geometric.
