This textile, woven of hemp and fireweed, was made by a Bai-Yi artist; over 20,000 of this indigenous ethnic minority reside near the border of Sichuan and Yunnan provinces. This type of pieced textile is used as a blanket to sit on or as a covering to keep a person warm at night. It is known as a quilt in the region of China it originates from.
