Though no longer a source of food and clothing, the buffalo still
retains a sacred place in the lives of Sioux people. This "Buffalo
Head Star Quilt" attributed to Philomena Frogg (Sioux), features
a dramatic buffalo head as part of the pieced star design. Quilts
are now acknowledged as the replacement for buffalo robes in many
Sioux ceremonies.
