An especially accomplished Sioux quilter, Pearl Spotted Tail
of Parmalee, South Dakota, makes variations of star quilts for many
giveaway occasions and for sale. She tells of making Broken Star
quilts such as this one, "when you are sad or when your heart
is broken."
