The Association of Michigan Basketmakers (AMB) has created a growing collection of baskets and related documentation at the MSU Museum that is intended to preserve the heritage of basketmaking in Michigan. The collection consists of 56 baskets reflecting many styles and techniques and represents the work of the honorees chosen from nominations put forward to the AMB by its members.

With support from the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs, the AMB is also in the process of documenting the work of the honorees through still and video photography and taped interviews. These materials, along with records of AMB, form a collection that is a solid resource for education, exhibition, and research for those interested in basketry, Michigan, and the formation of grassroots organizations such as the AMB.
