Please join us at the MSU Museum as we celebrate the arrival in our collections of an important work by Black Kirby, a collaborative collective composed of professors/artists John Jennings (UC Riverside) and Stacey Robinson (University of Illinois) in residence at MSU during the week of September 23-27. Black Kirby’s work references the popular culture contributions of comic book artist Jack Kirby in evolving conversation with Afrofuturism, struggles for social justice, and the politics and poetics of Hip Hop.
The acquisition of this work marks the MSU Museum’s deepening commitment to exploring and collections-building in the domain of black imaginaries, under the leadership of Dr. Julian Chambliss, Professor of English and Val Berryman Curator of History.
This “Homecoming” week unveiling is co-sponsored by the MSU Black Alumni Association Inc. and the Department of English.
