April 22, 1970 saw the world’s first Earth Day. Join us at the MSU Museum on the 50th Earth Day as we reflect how our planet’s biosphere has changed over the past half century. We’ll learn about habitat loss, extinction rates, ocean acidification, and climate change, all illustrated in dynamic, living color on “Science On a Sphere,” one of the world’s most dynamic learning technologies. Earth Day was inspired by the famous Apollo photographs of the Earth’s “blue marble” rotating in space: we honor these inspirational images through Science On a Sphere, which simulates our rotating planet in breath-taking detail. Animated visualizations on the Sphere will take us on a voyage discovery around our planet, from deep sea environments to the far reaches of the atmosphere.
