Accessibility

The MSU Museum aims to provide spaces and experiences that are welcoming and inclusive for all visitors. If you need information before visiting the Museum, please feel free to contact the Education Team at 517-432-1472

Accessible parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis in front of the Museum. The main entrance of the Museum is wheelchair accessible, with power-assist doors. Here, you can register and ask for any additional assistance such as tactile and braille maps, audio equipment, sensory kits, and a wheelchair to borrow for in-building use. All floors open to the public are available by elevator. Service animals are welcome. For visitors with sensory needs, we are pleased to provide any affordances or accommodations required.

Access Audio Experience

Experience the MSU Museum’s Habitat Hall gallery in a whole new way! The “Access Audio” app allows visitors to listen to exciting audio descriptions throughout the gallery using Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID) technology. Visitors wear an RFID tag, which triggers audio description to be delivered to their devices when they approach a hidden antenna in the gallery.

Borrow a free tag at the Museum’s welcome center. For help with the app or in the gallery, please visit the Museum welcome center.

How to Use Access Audio

  1. Borrow your free RFID tag at the Museum’s welcome center.
  2. Download the free “MSU Museum Access Audio” app from the App Store or Google Play Store or borrow a free device.
