Help the MSU Museum Send Lansing Teens to Space Camp!

GIVE HERE

The MSU Museum worked with Lansing area teens to design a Martian city of the future. We now have a chance to send four of these remarkable young women to Space Center University, on the grounds of the Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas.

This five-day “Martian program” offers a first-rate STEM education inspired by space exploration. The teens will pursue hands-on training, including sustainable habitat construction, strategic scientific planning, a one-stage rocket launch, and underwater astronaut training. They’ll meet scientists and astronauts and learn how NASA is preparing humans for deep space exploration.

Applicants for this life-changing experience are all participants in ITEC Lansing’s 2020 Girls program, providing young women from high-need schools with opportunities to explore science, engineering, technology and mathematics. 2020 Girls members learn robotics and coding, and develop ingenious scientific solutions to real world problems.

Your support will help cover space camp tuition, room and board, and air travel from Lansing to Houston. Your contributions also send a message toNASA Astronaut these remarkable young people that MSU and our wider community deeply cares about young people’s future and their contributions to humanity’s future, as we prepare to head to Mars and beyond.

The MSU Museum is one of the earliest established museums in the nation. It has continued to preserve collections and serve learners since its opening on the campus in 1857. The museum reaches a broad and diverse audience through strong, varied, and accessible collections, field- and collections-based research, public service and education programs, traveling exhibits, and innovative partnerships with local, regional, statewide, national, and international organizations and institutions.

As part of its ongoing commitment to its mission of education, exhibitions, research and natural and cultural diversity, the MSU Museum partners with community organizations and local young people, giving them new opportunities to explore the universe and our place within it.
