Summer Institute: Digital Storytelling with Large-Scale Digital Learning Technology Platforms

This summer the MSU Museum is participating in a summer institute along with the MSU Library, and Abrams Planetarium. Selected faculty and graduate students are exploring data visualization on three large-scale digital learning technology platforms at Michigan State University:

  • The Abrams Planetarium
  • 360 Degree Panoramic Room In the Library’s Digital Scholarship Lab
  • Science on a Sphere (coming to the MSU Museum in Fall 2019)

Participants will learn how each of these platforms are best suited for different types of storytelling and data representations. Collaborators will work towards innovative and interdisciplinary ideas using one or more of the platforms, and develop course modules that can engage students in unique forms of active learning in immersive digital arenas.

At the completion of the program students will present on topics they focused on during the summer institute.

As MSU continues to evaluate the safety of our campus and community in response to COVID-19, we have made the decision to close the MSU Museum. Due to the rapidly changing nature of the situation, we have not determined a reopening date. We will continue to communicate updates as they become available. During this time, we will do everything we can to stay engaged with you virtually. Access virtual learning and activity resources
